Tuscaloosa Academy completed the 2015 season with a 7-4 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class AAA region two, the Knights earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Tuscaloosa Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Autauga Academy by a score of 44-35. Since 2010, Tuscaloosa Academy has gone a combined 47-21. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AAA over the past six seasons. Over the past 24 seasons, Tuscaloosa Academy has managed to compile a record of 125-130. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class AAA and 21st in the AISA. Their last losing season was 2010. The Knights are led by head coach Robert Johnson who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 44-13 over the past five seasons at Tuscaloosa Academy. Under his direction the Knights have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Johnson. His 130 wins rank 7th among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach Johnson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fourteen times and won five region championships. The Tuscaloosa Academy Knights will play in Class AAA region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Knights remain in AAA but move from region two over to region one. Tuscaloosa Academy will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season. Region one will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Knights should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2009 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2016. The Knights open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Autauga Academy on Friday, August 26 at Knights Stadium. Last year the Autauga Academy Generals finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in second place in Class AAA region one. The Generals lost in the semi-finals round of the Class AAA playoffs to Bessemer Academy by a score of 45-7. Tuscaloosa Academy and Autauga Academy have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Knights have a 1-6-0 record against the Generals. They last met in 2015 with Autauga Academy winning by a score of 44-35. Tuscaloosa Academy returns AISA All-State sophomore kicker Trey Finison. He was named to the second team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
